Writer Junkie

Writer Junkie

A Poem by Tabby Mac

I've been in denial I guess...
As I write on a torn apart tissue box in my car.
I'm a mess!
My words spilling onto the nooks and crannies
I'd probably write a story on a pair of panties...
But, I digress...
I'm tired of hiding it! Now you know!
I'm a writer junkie during my highs and lows!
My mind swells, I get all twitchy
My fingers itchy!
I must get it out!
Give me a piece of paper before I shout!
PEN! PEN! PEN!
Okay pencil! WHATEVER!
Scribble...scribble...scribble...
Journal after journal
Page after page
Letters into feelings, thoughts, rage...
Writing and writing until finally...
BLISS...
Come here! Do you hear this?
Listen...
Nothing, I know!
It's peace, its quiet...it's the pause after the crescendo!!
I would live here if I could but alas
The need comes back so fast!!
I'm out of paper what do I do?
I'm having another fix!
How about you?

This is nice, Ms. Mac.

I enjoyed it. The *panicky* type vibe and haste of needing to get things out through means of paper (or however else), was well put.

The rhyme scheme and line breaks and punctuation and wild all-caps made the feel of this piece into what it is.

Nice job aligning emotion and message with form.

Much love,

LR

I free myself through writing as well. It just makes sense after all my thoughts are on paper. Keep writing. This was a great poem.😄😄😄

This is awesome! I have notebooks everywhere in my house and my van, and I'm known for purloining pens right out of peoples hands! Totally identify with this!

I really enjoyed this Tabby. So fun to see the inside of your head and your process of writing .
I tend to write in my notepad on my phone, so I don't have to worry about my paper flying away while I'm on the go or the sloppy writing from crazy bus rides hehe

I loved it. Never forget that you have yards of toilet paper, unless you still belong to the torn up squares of newspaper.
Your poem; a wonderful sense of fun.

Writer Junkie....What a good addiction to have.
This line....My mind swells, I get all twitchy - Ain't that the truth. I bet everyone of us here has had the explosion/surge of thoughts racing through our veins, itching to boot the laptop up or even desperate for a piece of paper.
I can see that by you writing this, there must have been such great satisfaction afterwards. It's always nice to see pieces like this, because you can tell that the passion of writing exists in the person behind it. To be passionionate about writing will only lead to more creativity and ultimately lead you to becoming a better writer.

Rock on Tabby, keep writing. An excellent example of being passionate.

Mark.

I read 'panties' and 'itchy' and it triggered some bad memories - I think you should add a STi-clinic memory trigger warning Tabby.

Ignore that babble I just wrote. This is so relatable. Who hasn't got loads of cardboard pieces at home (or tons of voice recorded files in their phone) with words they were inspired to pen at the most inopportune times?
This is a Universal truth for us all told with such wit, Tabby Mac.
Bravo!
