The unstoppable

The unstoppable

A Poem by Tabby Mac

Even if I sit real quiet
and try to calm my inner riot…
My heart stands still
in disbelief.
I reach for faith and relief.
Crickets…
No, a slowly flowing trickle that turns
into to a steady rush of fear consumes me.
My heart stops with anxiety.
My stomach convulses in its entirety.
My throat clenches as my tears threaten.
I can't take it all in.
I'm not sure where to begin.
How do you process the things that you can't stop?
You know, the news of cancer, dementia, and what not.
All of it seems so dim.
When death becomes your shadow…who wins?
All involved have a part to play.
How will I play mine today?

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your encouragements!!

There is a lot of raw emotion going on in this one. From one line to another it is filled with words which grab your attention and don't let you go until the very end. You have always had the ability to engross and capture people into the words which you place from your mind onto paper. Even though the piece itself is somewhat sad, it is still very well crafted and EXCEPTIONALLLY well though out. Each and every time I read these poems of yours Tabby, I do often find myself thinking a lot after I have read them. Which in my book goes to show what the power of words can have on any individual.

Heartfelt and another captivating read.

Mark.

What you are sympathetically and poetically describing can feel overwhelming, but an individual may be able to make it feel less so by thinking about it as smaller "pieces". If they try to put life into bite-sized chunks and take one day at a time, or one week at a time. They can also decide on some small, achievable goals, so that they may gain confidence. Caring for a friend or family member with a terminal illness can be both rewarding and challenging. Only one word covers all the facets of these circumstances – love!

You are very welcome ....
Maybe I heard it in a movie or song but I think when you pass away you take the life you live everyday with u. Whether you loved or was loved by everyone or you hurt others or just hurt yourself I think all that comes into account into the next life. I don't know if there's a kingdom of heaven or a Purgatory of hell I do believe that when the time comes for everyone they want to believe they just don't want to be alone

Hmm, again... Awe-struck by your ability to translate a moment, or thought, or thing... With such damn relatable ease... Read in the comments that this was for a loved-one, and I wish them the best, you as well... A painfully vivid display for them, this write was, and in time... Your part will be illuminated... Sadly penned...

Such sad thoughts here. Your life in a strangle hold, looking with disbelief at what you have to watch but, can do little about. Been there, Tshirts galore. Little prepares someone for the helplessness of standing by, listening, watching.. wishing magic wands or better still, miracles existed.
You WILL play your part. Anyone who can write such deep, empathic words, knows how to arm self with a strangely intuitive ability to say and do almost the right thing. Prayers to and for you, Tabby

Such a horrible reality filled with the worst myriad of emotions, yet all of us must face the dark demon of death that will inevitability come for those we care for and for us. Sometimes facing that is worse than the actual being taken. Very heartfelt and well written. Keep sharing!

Wonder if faith only plays a part when it gets to the critical stage of life. Who knows what's round the corner. A bar would do me fine. Maybe a blond barmaid with a spade to lay me to rest.
