Easy, Tiger...

Easy, Tiger...

A Poem by TadKent
"

A bit of an angry song I wrote a while ago. To hear it, go here: http://www.myspace.com/thetadkentproject . Not as "pretty" as my other stuff. Comment or whatever for explanation on song title. = ]

"

I heard about

The way you say you're gone inside...

And all about,

the way you die when I walk by.

I wonder if

there's times I ever cross your mind

Or if you've thought

about the day you said goodbye

Someday it will all catch up to you

Whether you like it or not

You say that we're all over,

Well I agree.

There's now way to start it up again

Get over the way you hate me.

It's clear that we're all done

It's too much of you to ask of me

Just wait and see...

I wonder when

You come around to realise...

There's no need to yell

I've always been on your side.

A mystery,

that I'm a monster in your eyes.

I wish you'd see

I was waiting in plain sight

I'm standin' right in front of you

whether you like it or not...

You say that we're all over,

Love, I agree.

There's no way to start it up again

I'm over the way you hate me

It's clear that we're all done.

It's too much of you to ask of me,

just wait and see-

And as I walk across this place

I'm sure that i'm the only one,

That should avoid that hateful gaze.

You say the we're all over,

Well I agree.

There;s no way to start it up again,

I'm over the way you hate me.

It's clear that we're all done.

It's too much of you to ask of me

Just wait and see.

There's quite a bit of anger in here but I see it more as emotional hurt than anything destructive or vindictive. The reprtition of 'no way to start it up again' rings a little like a phrase that's been said to you and you're repeating it like a mantra in order to hold back feelings or cling to false hope. I liked this a lot.

This is definitely my favorite song, now. I hope you continue doing what you're doing, because you're great at it.

The anger which you refer to -if indeed it is there- is very tender and understanding, like some reasonable explanation against some irrational reaction. The victim of a break-up is seemingly punished and yet the hatred is all in the eyes of the hurter. The tone of this piece is too balanced to be seen as anger, and it shows a warm acceptance of the situation, perhaps even, yes, a resignation..
It's a nice, quite real and palatable and accessible piece of poetry, and as a song I expect it works a lot more effectively - in fact, as I read it, I heard it more as a lilting love song than a poem (which I think is the way it was intended). I think the way it is set out and delivered comes across very much lyrically in terms of a song.
A warm and soft piece of work, with a kind of resisted emotional outpouring.

Anger is best left expressed in poetry.- I think it helps to vent what you feel helps you see how things affect you anyhow good use of poetry

Lot's of angst... It's not hard to visualize because It's something I've seen before, and it kills you a little inside if you have to go through it. The repetition definitely helps to get the point across. Altogether, I have to disagree with you, Tad. It's a beautiful piece, because it has it's own unique facets and edges. I liked it a lot.

Aye, it is angry.
But it's not an anger that you would use to harm another. It's an anger that you'd allow to burn you, and only you, until it broke you.
You sound like you're trying to convince yourself that it's all for the best, because it would never work. Then, you want it to work. So, you're torn, and soon you will be broken.
Good job.

i did feel some anger, but expressed well

I didn't feel the anger in this one; just a clear expression of a former lover's acceptance that there is no going back to being angry - a surrender but a declaration of moving forward.
