Black Thursday - Revisited

Black Thursday - Revisited

A Poem by Tai Chi Italy
"

Written on that dreadful day, ten years ago. We all NEED PROGRESS in Peaceful Negotiations, and we need it now. Peace to all those grieving relatives.

"

Black Thursday

They struck with precise accuracy.

Devastating our Capital City.

At rush hour! Naturally...

Human bombs planted under

And above ground.

Wrecking the transport system.

On this day they almost brought

the City of London Town to a grinding,

horrific stop, But!

They did not.

Many dead, far more injured.

Smoke and fear.

An eerie silence, holding workers

in buildings, mid air.

Emergency services working efficiently

Police " Fire " Ambulance crews

Keeping the order

Freeing the trapped

Ferrying the injured

Hospitals tending their wounds

Saving lives all across town

in operating theaters.

Our leaders!  Stoic in their response,

Capturing the mood of the Nation

To never give in to anything

But spoken negotiation.

The problem is

The terrorists won’t quit

All hope now

lies in the Governments of our world

To start talking.

Put an end to it.

The British have lived with this threat

for many a year.

Our hearts go out to all who have lost loved ones,

On this Blackest of Thursday’s

May the dead rest in Peace

and in their loss, somehow

bring our troubled world

some release.
