Retro--

Retro--

A Poem by Tammy

Tomorrow I'll buy batteries...

Across the open space, building to building

a blue light flickers from an apartment

on the ground floor; the one with

the frost-bit pot of marigolds and

lawn furniture that's waiting to go

into hibernation for the winter

a commerical I'm sure is the

reason I'm reliving the late

70's. What do they call it

these days?

Retro -

ah yes,

retro - definination - been there

done that, doing that again

My question is why redo what's already

been done, and looking back

not retro-

if we loved it so much why did we

stop in the first place?

A ponderable I'm sure.

Anyway, back to the light

before the remote control

the only reason commercials were

not watched was a frig run or potty break

and if it was an hour long show you could

do both on the thirty. Oh the good old days.

Retro -

No couch spuds back when -retro- since our

nither regions had to leave the sofa to turn the channel

that was exercise for the masses now the only

body parts getting worked is our remote trigger-finger.

Oh well, the blue light has stilled once

the cruise around the digital wonder has once again

not retro - taken a break from traveling.

I pick-up my own remote;

across the way from the apartment

with the blue disco show

Retro -

the one thing that everyone that operates a television

remote fears, you know what I'm taking about, yes

it's happened to me, oh my, my batteries have died.

No flashing blue coming from 176; I'll either have to

watch the same channel all night or exercise by

getting up to change the channel.

My decision's been made, I think HGTV is a dead battery

channel, yep HGTV, no getting up for me.
