Lucas

A Story by Areya Valena
"

To my unborn.

"

Lucas,

Life has been so hard, days have been so grey. I hold on to little hope, I fight for my smiles, but it is you that brings the break of sunlight.
No one ever expected you,
Especially not me.

But as a vessel I will welcome you,
I will care for you,
and I will love you eternally.
The little pressures in my tummy tell me you're actually here.
A dream in the distance I thought wouldn't be.
But now that I hear your heartbeat and feel your movements I can't help but wait anxiously and impatiently.
My son,
Life has been so hard,
And people say you will make it harder.
But with every breath I take, and
ever single kick, turn and wiggle you do,
I know I won't give up.
I can't give up.
Nothing else matters.
Nothing but you.

-Mommy
