When Daddy Comes Home

When Daddy Comes Home

A Poem by Kiara

She sits alone
Behind the couch.
The little girl
And her kitty.
She listens to
Her daddy screaming.
She watches him hit her mommy.
She waits for him to find her.
When daddy leaves,
He comes home mad.
He touches her in mean ways.
He grabs her arm
And twists it around.
He takes her kitty
And throws him in the washer.
In the morning,
Battered and bruised,
The little girl awakes.
She runs to the washer
To save her kitty.
She runs to her mommy,
Hurt and lonely.
Daddy is upstairs,
Sleeping in the bed
As always.
