He loves her, She loves him

He loves her, She loves him

A Poem by Devyani
"

Not Your Ordinary Love Story

"

Too scared to break free she,

Looks at him for advice.

Too afraid to make mistakes he,

Looks at her for strength.

The two of them may not be

Your everyday Romeo and Juliet.

Every little touch and every little kiss

They make do of whatever they get.

She holds on to his hand;

A doting gesture.

He forgets how to breathe;

A knowledgeable conjecture.

In a spiralling world

Where nothing stays the same,

A refreshing true love of sorts

Even when everything seems inane.

She says he's her hero.

He says she's his love.

They both stand together

Through everything under and above.

Of love long lost

In some or the other way

Tales of historical oridinarity

A significant norm of the day.

She loves him and he loves her.

They both have seen a million smiles and a million tears,

Because somehow or the other,

Their love has lasted for a million years..

The idea came to me out of the blue.. It wasn't supposed to be about old people in love but I just liked that idea better.. So if you still didn't catch the drift, it's about two elderly people (grand parents if you may) who love each other a lot and have been doing so since the past many years.

That was, really touching. You did a god job of putting your emotians into words. It made me think of some one special. He knows he loves me, he just asn't really relized it yet.

I think this was a good poem. I love how people were like that back in those days. These days marriages don't even really last long anymore. There is so much divorce now and it's sad that people can't stay together. I am glad that my parents are still together. They have been married for twenty-five years now. I hope that they stay together for the rest of their lives. My grandparents have been together a long time too. I liked this a lot though. Thanks for sharing.

I have a soft spot for any literature that have elders as their subject. I just feel so touched whenever I see old people (couples) who are so happily in love and still married... because I think such a love that strong is very rare. I like how the rhyming here added to the beauty of this poem, and how your words are referring to simultaneously experiencing imperfect love and perfect love. How everyday is not a fairytale, but there is love to make everything okay... Your poem is one of a kind. nice job :)

I really liked this! I admit, I didnt get the idea initially, but after your note I understood better. I always like the idea of two people growing old together. It seems to true when you add love to it. great work =]

Very beautiful last lines!
I really enjoyed this poem cause I can kinda relate to it in a way...
I think this could also apply to young ppl in love too tho...
because (from experience kinda...) I've seen "a million smiles" and "a million tears" and I can bet love in my heart will last "for a million years" :)
just a thought tho,
but I seriously enjoyed this poem!
:P ;)
