Hunter In The Darkest Of Nights

A Story by Tenlights
"

This is a story about a hunter from "a long time ago land where humans and animals were in peace with each other they were equal on equal terms and man did nothing to disturb this peace no matter what

"
A long time ago when buffalo roamed the land there once was a brave warrior who wasn't afraid of anything he hunted all day almost everyday and he was the proudest most strongest warrior of his tribe but not all warriors even the strongest can't withstand mental trauma he had recurring dreams of a nightmare that he could never remember all he knew was he woke up with fear every morning waiting for the sun to rise and when he had these dreams he felt the strongest relief as if a thousand gallons of water were lifted off his shoulders and once he went out hunting he felt freedom joy and happiness he was a kindest of man with a hopeful and pure heart honest and grateful of everything he'd been blessed with his family and his strength that he uses to protect his loved ones oh but for some reason even the strongest of men have their weakness's one morning he grew tired of these sickening dreams that he could never remember even though he could never forget the fear at the same time so he went on a walk in the dark moonlight that shimmered over the trees hiding the village as moonlight shun through the leaves into his eyes he saw something lurking far away in the distance he thought he was still dreaming but it all came back to him this was his dream it was a frightful night where a pack of wolves  would show right in the middle of the village normally they were peaceful but this time around something was bothering them they had been stealing food from the village for a couple days but that couldn't be the reason for their appearance in the middle of the village some hunters even spared some meat for the wild dogs but it wasn't enough he made the connection the wolves were mad cause they knew men had been killing buffalo they feared that the population would differ after long but the man was too frightened to speak so he sneakily walked over to warn the others  of the wolves presence however they ran after him seeing him move a few steps back so he froze but remembered as his elders told him you are okay his elders said they said you have the power to rise above and be strong like you were destined to be they spoke to him giving him strength but did he ask for this strength it didn't matter he ran and yelled as loud as possible "the wolves are here the wolves someone help" someone came to help but was just as frightened if not more so he screamed for help and before long the wolves got scared of the many voices of men shouting and once the voices grew louder the wolves backed away eventually running off into the forest the man was relieved he didn't know what to think of it but he knew he did the right thing sometimes it's best not to work alone sometimes you need more friends than you think cause sometimes your family isn't gonna be there for you considering his family consisted of children he had no one but himself to protect his family after all his wife died 6 months after the the second child was born but he knew he had a lot of strength he just didn't know if he had enough it haunted him again and again but not as a dream or vision he just overthought it all that night of fear of the once peaceful wolves he over thought it so much that he didn't sleep on some nights thinking they'd show up again but they never did the sad thing was he didn't know if it was good or bad after a day of sleeping from staying up all night he woke up but this time it was a peaceful night he went out and saw the wolves at the outskirts of the village and only 3 were sitting probably the alpha male's son's they stood proud knowing the man stopped hunting since that night and the man stared at them with relief he decided to move the village but it wouldn't be easy so he had to do it quick before they ran out of food long behold he saw it in the moonlight as clear as day or rather as clear as the full moon on the darkest of nights it was a buffalo but not just any buffalo he saw it walking away from the village into the forest and the wolves knew nothing about it the most silent and clean and pure buffalo of all the white buffalo which no man or wolf ever dare hunt it was a legendary buffalo so powerful it was considered better than man believed to be the strongest biggest buffalo and most kind and thankful but his presence was merely to say good bye to the tribe and the next two nights the tribe was ready to move so they walked for several days with plenty of clean water and food they walked and they walked for at least 365 days until they found it the biggest lake you would see it was in a great valley with nothing but clean water and fresh air perfect for a village so the new village was built the village of the moon tribe cause it was the moonlight that spoke to the leader of the tribe that dark night as if the god's themselves spoke to him so they finally were finished with plenty food to spare thanks to the great hunters efforts in gathering food of all sorts along the journey and the lake made for a great source of fresh water with rivers going down small hills straight into the lake the tribe was strong and healthy once again even the leader himself felt at peace
The End.
