Morning

Morning

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy
"

Sometimes a poem hits you when you're just sitting on the steps.

"
I step out onto the front porch
and down a few steps where I
sit ... to be a part of the morning.

The scent of yesterday’s cut grass
mixes with the heady fragrance of
the neighbor's pine trees.

This bouquet is carried on the soft
breeze that jostles oak leaves and
stirs the perfectly cool morning air.

The birds sing all around me, and their
shadows zip across the sun-soaked
yard where squirrels romp.

The morning sunlight advances upon me,
creeping across my dew sparkled grass
and moving in on my perfect shade.

On days like today, I wonder how
it must be to
fly ... like those birds.

wow GH loved this one, I often sit out on my deck in the mornings with my coffee cup. Love listening to the birds sing in the mornings. Wonderful way to wake up.
Also love sitting out there at night with a glass of wine and just staring up at the stars.
Wonderful poem

I was travelling the route with you...and it was so springlike that I almost started to whistle....tee hee.

This is a beautifully described scene of the "first thing in the morning" feeling ...well... after a cup of tea of course...

I would loved for it to have been longer.
Thanks for this
Babsie xx

Awww, I so enjoyed this. It's the simple things in life that give the greatest joy. The dawn is promise and I think this write captures the delightful crisp sweetness of it extremely well. Only thing missing in my book.....was the black coffee...lol

I appreciate your vocabulary, and the way you use it to go beyond just "painting the picture" of this morning.

This is a great piece. It takes the heart of a writer to truly enjoy the coming of morning. This is a well done piece, each end to a sentence driving the reader on towards the next.

A few things, this:
"Their shadows zip across the sun
Soaked yard where squirrels romp"

is the only sentence which doesn't flow in the entire piece. sun-soaked, as an adjective, is a hyphonated word in almost all cases. Unfortunately, the breakup of sun-soaked over the sentence break is very awkward.
The only other little thing is that "my shade and I" is actually wrong, it should be "my shade and me". These little things changed will just add so much more to this already lovely piece.

Nice work!

I can definitely relate to this. Inspiration could easily be triggered by the ordinary sounds and sights of nature. I couldn't resist scrawling something on a piece of parchment and let my quill write down the beauty before me. This piece sounds like a lullaby to me. A wonderful write.
