But You'll Always Be The One

But You'll Always Be The One

A Poem by Blue Ivory

Sometimes I like to think about

Your head on my lap

With us on the bright green grass

Life would be so peaceful

Everything just right

I shut them off for a reason

They were hurting me…

You and me

Would it be so bad?

I could finally be happy

Maybe even from within

I am afraid of myself

Of what I could do if I opened the gates

The voices were my only friends

I don’t need them anymore

Besides, I’ve been told that they’re bad for me

And the thought of you is their ally

You wouldn’t hurt me though…would you?

Or would clinging to your essence lead me on?

I mean I do know we could never meet

I’d still look for you everywhere though

You’re right.

Your absence is only for my benefit.

But you’ll always be The One.

I shut them off for a reason
They were hurting me… (what off, dreams)?

Besides, I’ve been told that they’re bad for me
And the thought of you is their ally (This could be worded better).

I think the poem could be a little better with punctuation but I see your point. There will always be a time when we fall for the wrong person. It sucks but it happens.

Wow, you know sometimes love just isn't enough to bring too people together, but it will never diminish their feelings for each other.
