I'm all in !

The Poker Game of Life

There were countless times
where we find ourselves sitting on a table
facing a wide range of formidable opponents

Pitted against an arrays

of high caliber proponents
who happened to have the most chips in life.

There were numerous occasions
where we have met seasoned players
who happened to possessed
the highest card.

There were many moments
when the odds were stacked against us 

as the Flop mocked our hopes

and the Turn passed over us
Tempting us to concede or simply fold.

Yet somehow we still manage

to stay in the game 

by some stroke of luck or divine providence
Out of shear will and desperation 

To play the lowest card
that we have been dealt with in life.

Hoping that one day, the River
will shift its course, to graciously favor our side

So we will no longer have to bluff our way
through this poker game of life.

We, that have been called; the underdogs ...

yay for the underdogs, and going all in. A nice little slice of carpe diem. One thing, I think you might have meant opponents instead of proponents.

Not a card player here... i think that mathematical analysis or knowledge on statistical probabilities may help the player beat the odds. It makes me think why some of us prefer to take chances (for example, we gamble to win money) when there are absolute ways wherein we could legitimately earn a living? This may also refer to spirituality and faith.
