Longing

What are you thinking?

Look into the distance

And there flashes into one's mind

A fleeting memory

A sudden rush of melancholia...

One cannot name 

How the world seemed to glow;

When the heart quietly prays

Of that long-lost song...

Lips purse

As the songs pass by;

The heart cannot hold on

For so long, so short...

Upwards, to the sky

Infinite and blue;

One's eyes seek

What one has always been asking...

This is a good poem. I enjoy the lightness in its tone, yet it portrays feelings that go beyond the soft edges of the piece. Although, I feel as though something's missing from this. I can't exactly think of what it is, but it seems to be lacking in translation. But, as it is, it's a marvelous piece. Good work.

I liked the "aftertaste" of the tones after reading it aloud. I think each person finds melancholy in their own moments and deals with the memory as only they can.

"What one has always been asking" and the heart longing. Such a wonderful poem that the reader can feel. Really nice expression of emotions and desires. Love the song aspect of this. Often it comes like a song, the sweetest melody.
