Bright Light

Bright Light

A Poem by Nicola

Cinders ignite and fuel the burn

Singeing all but my body and mind,

Consuming our world, a passion

So deep and raw.

Do not fear the flames, my pet, the flames

That toil within-

Erupt forth a servant of fire, from magma flowing true, through river-veins

Of orange and white.

I look to you and my vision is skew; you are the Sun

And I fly too close, breathing your heat like air, for there is no more air-

My body percolates desire and sweat and lust, to mix

For us a treacherous romance:

Your heart bleeds petroleum, my love a spark alight;

Together, we are bright.

This poem has so much power, you used the metaphors so well, it breathed aliveness and mystery and something primal that is hard to capture. You clearly have some talent.

Love the sensual voice in this. Particularly that penultimate line. Nice.
