(The Parlour) Whatever I would do

(The Parlour) Whatever I would do

A Poem by John Holmes

It is on my mind
when the rain descends from the heavens
It is the Crimson in my blood
The Fire burning in my heart
The Cold, Crisp Ice in my veins
It is the song I sing in the darkest nights
My charm
My protection
The curve in my script
The Skip in my step
How can one do this to me?
Set my soul ablaze
and my wings into flight
You Know what it is
Don't you?
That image in your mind
that ageless, timeless reflection in your eye
you would raise up Hell
And cast down heaven
for them
And that scares you
Doesn't it?
But that is how you know it is real
When you're scared
When you can't even think
or sing
or dance
without the timeless image
of them smiling
haunting your every waking moment.
