Shoreline

Shoreline

A Poem by John Holmes
"

Another poem for a lost soul

"

Along the shoreline do I stand
Singing fell songs upon the cold wind
Luring to their doom so many
Luring
With Sirens Songs
To the Rocks below

And to darkness deep do I condemn them.
To the Abyss below the rocking waves
And yet
I never
Ever
Asked for this

I sing and I dance for my own
Self
Love
It is for no man
Nor woman
To claim
It is but my soul
Laid bare
For me

And me alone
And still
Do they come to me
Uninvited
Unwanted
With flowers and chocolates
And sweet words they never intend to keep

And still!
I am to blame
For shooting them down
Down into the pits of there own
Darkness

I am this
I am that
A monster
A prize
A desire
Something to be claimed

That is what they say
That is what they want
But what about me?
And me
And me
And me!

If this is how you propose
To trap me?
By sending yourselves
Into darkness
And the abyss
Below the sea
Just so that you may
claim me
And
Get your way
Then I will
As surely as
Do I breath
Send you all
Down
Down into the abyss
With my fell voice
And sirens songs

I am no prize
I am a person.
