(The Parlour) Live and Live again

(The Parlour) Live and Live again

A Poem by John Holmes

Sometimes we never know
what we are
or
what we are doing
whether we are singing or screaming
dying or living
as we breath in seconds
tick-tock
goes our own
internal clock
chiming
chipping away
at our time to be
and still
we know not what we are
or
when are time will begin!
whether in the darkness
of thy lonely night
or in thew blazing heat
of high noon
our time will begin
when we have thrown the dice away
no more chances
no more gambles
no more desperate plans
we chuck it in
discard our hand
leave the table
or
so we thought
what really happened
was that you
moved on
you started it
your life
your existence
when you left your old tools
behind
So you listen to me!
leave the table
discard your hand
throw the dice away
and get up!
run and sprint and scream and sing
so that you can't tell the difference!
and then
and then
you will hear it
your heart
pounding and pounding away
in a fury known to shake heavens down
you
you
a simple human
is alive
is dreaming
is drowning in nightmares
and dancing
in moonlight
Oh, the Heavens have reason to shake and Hell to tremor too.
