Daytime Awe: A Grey-Day Inspiration

Daytime Awe: A Grey-Day Inspiration

A Poem by Molly

The air clung to my skin today

Pulling at my arms and hair.

The weight the air possessed was astounding;

Its heaviness caught me by surprise.

The breeze snaked into my body

Bringing with it the cold and damp

That permeated the atmosphere.

My microcosm dripped with melancholy.

The grey of the sky, the blanket of

Cloud, it was beautiful.  Such a

Uniform feeling all over.  You couldn’t tell

Where sky ended and earth began.

The slate color, so all-encompassing.

Nothing existed that wasn’t engulfed

By the sodden mist; no light could shine.

Moisture muffled all sound.

Life went on, as it usually does,

But in a quieter and more dignified way

Than is possible on a day full of

Bright, shining, yellow sunlight.

Perhaps it is odd that I manage to find

Such a drab and dreary day so peaceful,

So beautiful and awe-inspiring,

But I feel God in days like this.

This is great!!
I don't like the words melancholy or astounding, but who the hell am I.
I really like this. Your damp snaking breeze reminded me that I am freezing.
Have fun :)
