A Poem by The Soft Parade

You only wish to argue politics and prostitutes
The difference between cocaine and opiates.
I saw you laying in the middle of the road,
Laughing, laughing and crying and insulting the vast corporate ties.

You fought a battle that's never been won,
Every morning facing down your gun.
Click, click. The escape is revered.
Silence follows, the last sound you'll hear.

Hello sweet escape,
Hello bitter ecstasy,
I'm finally free.
Finally.
Free.
