EXPRESSO

EXPRESSO

A Poem by DIVYA

”Good Evening Maa’m

Can I get you another cup of coffee?”

“Hi Arul. That sounds good.

Make it an espresso, no sugar. Thanks.”

“Here’s your expresso Maa’m.

Happy Independence Day”

“Happy Independence Day Arul! By the way,

I love your outfits. Appreciate your

effort to go ethnic today”

“Thank you Maa’m if you liked our service,

please give us a review on Zomato.com”

“Sure! It’ll be a pleasure!”

“Maa’m have you downloaded the app?”

“No but I’ll do it surely”

“Maa’m, I’ll help you do it Now. Just click there.

Yes, right there. Now download. Good”

“Done. Thanks”

“Ok Maa'm, now please write 'Excellent food

and service at The Boulevard'. Do mention my name”

“Oh Absolutely....”

“Please also mention Raja, Anita, Meher,

Tina, Akshay & Vinay Maa’m”

“Ok, doing… Done!”

“Maa’m, you could post a pic of us too”

"A pic??? Wow. Ok...

There. Looking great all of you! Posted!”

Later…

“Arul, see me for a minute. My cabin”

“Yes sir?”

“I'm sorry but you are fired.

Settle your account, leave premises by 3 sharp”

“Any problem….?”

“A guest has complained”

“Seriously!”

“It is serious. A harassment complaint.

That too inside the restaurant”

“Huh”

“See, we have to protect our reputation.

This is a five star hotel. So if we are

done I have a vendor to meet”

That Mean b***h...

 Uh Ok sir”

Coffee has become so complicated , as this satirical poem describes. What is the proper coffee etiquette? How does one address the barrista? What if the 'mocha-latte- skinny- double shot- frapuccino' you ordered us not what you receive? And the cyber review obligations-aaagh., Great satire, comical conversation- love the conversation and subtleties! A caffeinated delight!
