SOMETIMES

SOMETIMES

A Poem by DIVYA
"

Abstract, perhaps sad

"

Sometimes

Trees stripped to the bones

cradle their fruits, gaunt as skulls

close to their chests

before the dark hours

Butterflies pierced on thorns

bleed their sap freely

into the shriveling mouths

of dying flowers

Snakes slither on

the gentle face of the moon

sowing seeds of jealousy

in the hearts of lovers

The red balloons we hold

Fly away to the skies

To fill the drab vista

with their cheery colors

You've expressed some of the deepest emotions within the human's heart, the first verse made me think of the mother's spirit, the protective to her children no matter what, in the second one You've showed a high level of pain, like gentleness being ripped by many many thrones, I'm so impressed by Your third one, one of the most negative emotions that can ruin beauty if it was out of control, still... from these deep deadly feelings of despair, pain and jealously... the hope shines gently in Your last verse, learning that sometimes You let go... You give... for a greater thing, a lesson in life! I like how Your style is collecting thoughts into one great message, wonderful write.

I wish you a lovely weekend too. Sending much love! ⚘
At the end of summer, even tho I love autumn, I get feelings of melancholy for the end of this time of fun & freedom (from when I was young). Your poem describes this melancholy feeling perfectly. I love the use of nature & color & whimsy in your descriptions. This is one of the best of yours that I've read so far! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You have such skill with words. These images are perfect. The stark form is perfect. The contrast in the last stanza is perfect. Thank you for writing; you're inspiring!

Tjank you very much dear friend
I suppose it's natures way of saying.
Take a break, you've worked hard this year.
But even in winter, the colours can be seen.
We just have to embrace it.

Though there's misery and sadness, there's also joy and harmony to temper the gloom, let's pray those red balloons illuminate happiness to temper the malaise!

Poignant, with a hint of hope for days ahead, beautifully worded sentiment Divya!
