Weed

Weed

A Poem by Third Grace
"

Lions in the grass

"

No greater gold

   Than dandelion petal

Not daisy

          Nor tulip

No marigold

          Nor daffodil

They have not the pride

   Of dandelion mane

The first outbreak of spring

          Contagious blooms

All yellow and green

Great wars are waged

         Armies try in vain

No stopping the turn

          To fuzzy orbs

So make a wish and whisper

Wisps of dreams upon the wind

Third Grace
This was just a fun little piece I wrote the first time I really stopped to look at this little pest.

I just loved this..." I'm sittin' in the middle of this ecstasy.. wondering where the lions are"

I'm blowing a wish your way, catch it floating on the breeze before it settles to become a lion on your emerald lawn. While the leaves are tender they make a most excellent salad and the flowers make a bittersweet wine that is truly intoxicating beyond mere beauty. This was a wonderful poem. Now, where are those lions?

I love these lines they brought me back to when I was a kid and I would make wishes on everyone I could find. I thoroughly enjoyed this poem and I think it is written very well and flows wonderfully. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.
