Little Girl

Little Girl

A Poem by Thirishri
"

Freeverse... Don't remember why I wrote it, it was from about 2 years ago

"

Trapped inside my mind

Lost touch with real life

Lost where no sun shines

Lost in the twisted and shattered

Corridors of my mind

I lay screaming yet silent

Torn to pieces yet utterly whole

I see a light ahead

Somewhere in my mind

Somewhere in there

There’s a little girl

Clutching her teddy

Crying for freedom

Crying for love

Crying for anything

Anything but what’s there

Coz all that’s there in my mind

Is hate, pain

And twisted thoughts

Of blood and violence

And the little girl watches

She watches and cries

Cries and asks herself

How did this happen

Where is the sky?

Where are the flowers?

Where is the love I used to feel?

What happened to the little girl?

She used to play in a fountain

In the middle of a peaceful city

In the light of dawn

The fountain has dried

The city has crumbled

The light has died

And the little girl sits and cries
