A Life Worth Living

A Life Worth Living

A Poem by Thomas Parke
"

Inspired by "Leisure" by W.H. Davies.

"

Miss the forest for a tree,

Eschew becoming; be.

Have a child's wonder, too,

Detach from worries; do.

Live meaningful and deep,

Stop overworking; sleep.

Often stop and gaze above,

Don't just settle; love.

Because life's too short to preoccupy,

Remark on its cruel beauty; die.

Excellent! Just your first attempt but awarded the best poem. I love your style. Keep writing.

I loved the form you used in this one, it put emphasis on the last word in every stanza. And personally it kind of made the last word ring in your head while you moved on to the next one.

Thanks!
Wow, this was so beautiful. I loved the form and everything. The last line has to be my favorite. Your first attempt doesn't seem so!

Thank you!
This is great. I love the formatting, I don't think I've seen anyone shape their poem like that. Bravo, I can hardly believe this is your first attempt!
