Adversity's Intonation

Adversity's Intonation

A Poem by Tommy
"

We Can...

"

Mans’ weakness feeds ego, and it was Plath,

who confessed this world has become so dark

some seek solitude of death (“In His Wrath”)

to escape the salute of life; and “Hark,

Be Righteous!” by holding yourself above

the shoulders of our brothers’. Feel their love?

Let them preserve you, indifference keeps

obscurity, seeing light, but never

having the chance to daydream (Sow these Reaps).

Trickle Down seems, sleepless nights. A clever

humanity who hides his greed behind

the chapel doors of convictions; confined.

I found myself alone, kept in the black,

where my siblings held me, and no one spoke

Up, because the corruptions were (Payback),

a front for the eyes; bought lies, they invoke

ownership of the free world. Rewarded,

working fingers bleed, so Blood stays sordid.

I am ready to grasp, ready to step

forward, learning from the prowess, (I choose);

be Classless, learn, a sure feat to misstep.

Involving myself, affecting the hughs

of the Union, "They Built It!.” So we can

Rebuild it, stronger, a new Clan…

To me this talks about corruption in churches. Hidden skeletons in the closet and the abuse of being a leader and guider of youth. Destroying fragile minds for gains of self serving prophesies. This is done with many thoughts and careful layout. Love the added thoughts in parentheses

The world has become so dark and corruption and lies exist behind many doors and yes even in the church deception lies. Nicely written.

Clarity and obscurity... darkness and light... strength and frailty all flow through your winding road of the world... Somehow a hope in all the despair rises... to build again... to rise up. Amazing poetry.

While most of us see the same problems, we often differ as to solutions.
"Adversity's Intonation" is an intelligent, artful and effective rant--yet another fine example of your profound poetic prowess.
Agree or disagree, Tommy, one can fairly say, you're a man who cares!
