The World's Call

The World's Call

A Poem by Thrinna Mae
"

Racism is man's gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason. -Abraham Heschel

"

It’s not about the color black and white

Or even the parties gathered at the night

The symbolic flags and a country's Divine

Is not the mere basis or such triumph sign

Unity is a word that rarely can be achieved

For the bias judgment is culled in their crib

Wars were created yet compromise was not

And the reigning prejudice is still on the plot

They say we live in a self-named democracy

Yet where is the justice against this impiety?

Till a crow turns white or the stars go down?

Till the tarnished regime is hailed with crown

As the nations wait for the righteous revision

For racism is sometimes a misread perception

They say fairness is just easier said than done

Yet the world must believe that we can be one

Equality is a on going battle. This USA government like to create ghosts and hate to blind the USA citizen from the truth. We will pay 460 billion on interest on our deficit. We have one in six with not enough food. 1.2 trillion on war. Easy to find a race to blame. Only terror we should fear is a government that wants to control all things. I pray in the next election we kick out the dead weight and bring in leaders who have concern for hunger, education and peace. A powerful poem. Made old Coyote think.

I totally agree. In school were learning about Anti-semitism and I feel that's what started this all.

Courageous and brave piece. Loved it. With so many similarities it's sometimes unfathomable to me how people search for the smallest differences and use them as a basis for separation. The only dividing force should be good and evil and in these are universal laws that transcend all races, religions, cultures, creeds, etc. Awesome poem/call to unification.

A powerful poem. A powerful message.
I grew up in a nation where I never learnt that this vile thing existed, only when I came to the UK did I learn that there was racism in this world. From my own experience, I think that just not telling children that it exists, making everyone being equal a fact of life, is the only way we'll ever reach a form of equality - I could be wrong however

I had a chapter in my Class 7 English Literature book once, in which Miep Gies (one of the people who helped to hide Anne Frank's family in the Second World War) said that racism or differentiating on the basis of caste, creed or colour denies the fact that everyone is an individual, with different thoughts and opinions on different things. Somehow, your poem really made me think of that.

Really well written, will leave any reader with something to think about. One of the most thoughtful peices I have read. Thank you for sharing this one.

You nailed that universal desire for unity that we all have,
knowing that we are divided on so many levels, i.e. rich and poor, Black and white, high and low........

I really enjoy when others write in rhyme, though I should say - you have done so while effectively writing a piece that is smooth-flowing and exposes deep thought. I really like this! Epic!
