Nightfall

Nightfall

A Poem by Crifa

The sun is setting on this beautiful day,
As the horizon consumes its glowing rays.
Shadows begin to cover the crisp landscape,
Converting the orange skirt to a purple cape.

Yellow orbs stalk the chilling night,
Scraping the Earth of feeble life.
Innocent, pitiful, and filled with fright,
All those inadequate fall to the knife.
The craven-minded take up flight,
Forever bound to fear, their wife.
The undaunted stand, ready to fight,
Prepared to live or die with strife.

Yet throughout the forsaken night,
Shines small, but merciful lights.
Sending streams of silver hue,
With hope the sun will rise anew.
