Such A Joke

You use to joke with me all the time

Telling me I was so pretty

All the guys wanted me

I could be anyone I wanted to be

I would laugh at your jokes every time

 

I thought as we aged and got older your jokes would die down

I was wrong

You still say the same lines over and over again

 

Looking at me with humor in your eye asking why I didn’t find anyone yet

Why I didn’t have a successful job

Why I was still pretty

And telling me you know I was capable of all.

I would still laugh. I guess we both didn’t grow up.

 

I one day decided to joke back.

Telling you what was on my mind.

If I was so catchable, catch me.

If I was so pretty, take me.

If I was to be successful, be by my side.

 

I never could tell jokes right.

You didn’t laugh at all.

You took me serious.

I started laughing again.
