Sometimes the voices in my head make so much sense that I can't not give credit to a higher power. This was one such case.

Searching for Answers

A Poem by Timothy G. Britton

Searching for answers that I just can’t find,
trying to get ahead but I just keep falling behind.

Through the darkness I stumble, trying to find my way.
I know at the end of this tunnel I will see the light of day.

So long I have waited, now it’s finally within my sight.
I reach the end, as day turns to night.

I fall to my face in complete despair,
realizing now that this life just isn’t fair.

So far I have journeyed only to grow so weak,
here I lay not even knowing what it is that I seek.

But out of the silence, I hear someone call my name;
remembering a voice from so long ago, I knew it was the same.

He told me “open your eyes, then you shall see;
that the things that are before you are not what they seem to be”;

“For the light that you searched and the dark where you dwelt, are but one,
 within them both, you can always find me, for I am your father and you are my son”.
