Something Lethal This Way Comes

Something Lethal This Way Comes

A Poem by Tina Kline
"

"Horror"

"
Gleaming red eyes
gazing at me
from beneath rippling grey fur

Fangs glisten
hungry panting echoes
I can only feel fear

Running isn't an option
as the creature approaches
something lethal this way comes

and I know without doubt
I am dinner
for there is no escape for me

makes me think of being cornered by a hungry wolf, which would be terrifying. im not sure if you were going for some other creature or not, and it might be because i just read your wolf lune haiku. in any case, knowing your own demise is imminent is truely horrifying. very nicely done.

Wow! One of your scariest. I like the line, 'Running isn't an option'. There's a finality to that.

I both read 'Something Wicked this Way Comes' and watched the film. I liked the film better. Ray Bradbury uses waaaaaay too much metaphor.

Highly imaginative and haunting. The impression of fear and horror was also kicked up by your use of the senses, I was virtually able to step into your perceptual world and experience that moment. I shelved this one :)

A very sinister poem, not loud and bold but sinister and lethal just the same. It's like a sneak attack. Powerfully done.

"by the pricking of my thumbs" well, i have to say this was an engaging read ...very well done and quite scary except the phrase "hungry pants" i thought of blue jeans which had not eaten....therefore hungry...don't know why, just my sick sense of humor i suppose. very good write!
