Vampire In Santiago

Vampire In Santiago

A Poem by Tina Kline

Here in this large city

    The capital of Chile

In Santiago

    Modern crossroad of the world

I wander the nighttime streets

My pale hair and blue eyes

    Like so many other visitors

Some who stay

    But I’m not a tourist

The snow capped mountains

Shimmer in the dark of night

The Andes with its many volcanoes

Just a backdrop for my hunger

The days are hot

The nights are heated for other reasons

Near the tunnel that leads beneath the river Mapocho

    I choose my prey

Dark eyes, dark hair, dark skin

His blood is sweet

His fear and pain make it so much better

I enjoy the savagery of the kill

As I drain him of his life blood

I toss his dead body into the river

No, I don’t care, I am vampire, I am Predator

There is no caring in me for my food

I walk away from the river

Back to the heart of Santiago

Tupungato broods over the city

    Menacing as volcanoes can be

But my threat is more real

As I stalk the nighttime streets

   Forever thirsty

        For human blood

A very steamy and exotic vampire poem. Like the story in this.

Awesome poem. Love the vampire story in this. I can see this being expanded.
