DREAMING........

DREAMING........

A Story by Tina Kline
"

If we wish hard enough can our dreams become our reality?

"

Dreaming, drifting in a soothing sort of sleep...dreaming....

Opening my eyes...I see colors swirling all around me. As I watch these fantastic swirling colors I hear the whisper of tiny wings, myriads of tiny wings, fluttering about me. There are so many I actually feel the breeze, soft and gentle like gossamer sighs.

Hmm. I turn over. I discover I'm on a bed of silken sheets and pillows. Not my bed. I should feel alarm but I don't. I feel no alarm, just a soothing sense of sleep. Of peace. A warm breeze drifts across me, a gentle caress.

I sigh. Around me I still hear the soft fluttering. The colors swirling around me start to take shape. I watch fascinated. It's like a puzzle that I don't have to think too hard to put together. The puzzle is putting itself together.

Small pieces break free from this swirling and I see tiny butterflies. More and more butterflies. Dark blue, light blue, blue stripes and ivory butterflies. They flutter all around me. I watch them and know I am dreaming...dreaming....

More colors enter the swirling. Reds, pinks and soft greens. These new colors swirl about and pieces start to break off. More butterflies. Now there are so many butterflies they fill my vision. I rise from the silken bed and look around. All around me I see soft bluish emerald crystal clear waters. I am amazed.

I stand up. The swarm of butterflies burst out over these waters like a shattered cloud. I watch as the tiny colored butterflies flutter and blink in the warm sunlight. I hear a soft lapping as the ocean waters break against the legs holding up the dock and the house I'm in.

One wall of the house is open to the ocean and the warm weather. I walk to this area and stand there looking out over the ocean. The warm ocean breezes tug playfully at my clothing and long hair. The butterflies are off way in the distance. The sky is a clear greenish blue color. The sun shines down. I can see clear to the bottom of the ocean.

Oh, what a fabulous dream this is. I do not want to wake. This place is like a paradise to me. I want to stay here forever.

Dreaming....dreaming....dreaming. I let out a sigh and leave the house and walk out onto the wooden dock. No, I will stay here. I will make sure I never wake. Let this fantasy be my reality. Let the dream be my waking state. I stretch and look down and see I'm wearing a long silk ivory dress with a long slit up one side so I can walk unhindered. On my feet sandals and around my neck a silver pearl necklace, around my wrists golden pearl bracelets and on my fingers ivory pearl rings.

Yes, I'm dreaming but my dream is becoming solid and real. I can touch all that is around me. I can feel the warm breeze and smell the salty ocean waters. And I can see the swirling cloud of many colored butterflies now heading back in my direction.

     I watch. I smile. Dreaming....dreaming.....dreaming...

     No, waking...waking...

     I'm waking up....

This is very beautiful dreaming. Sometimes I wish some of my dreams could be true or I'd stay in them for a lot longer. Others I'm more than glad to escape from!!!
