Unplug

Unplug

A Poem by Tom Bombidail
"

Has our constant connectivity helped or hindered us? Has it allowed creativity and ingenuity to flourish or stagnate?

"
Every day a little window vibrates in our pockets.
It rings and shines, one's and zero's fly through the air and straight to our hands.
We have magic in our palms.
Our noses buried in an avalanche of information
Our heads in metaphysical clouds
Our eyes blind to the world around us.
We have magic in our pockets.
Creativity lost between blips sent from half the world away.
Geniuses never reach their potential.
Leaders whose platform only hold one hundred and forty-six characters or seven seconds of video,
Who never step up on their soap boxes,
Who never change one damn thing,
Whose whole existence is summed up by how many likes and shares they can get.
They have magic in their hands.
But when the batteries run out, when the rare earth is gone, when children walk free from sweatshops
And the conveyor belts cease to move,
When countless artists, philosophers, and leaders unplug
They reclaim the magic in their minds.

I so agree. Held prisoner and chained to the handheld magic box. As the world around us continues to spin, our imagination, our thoughts, our dreams go on hold. I love your poem and so relevant to the times we live in.

I really enjoyed reading this...magic is a good thing...and this interesting piece bears ...whitness...to that..
