Truth Told in All Tongues

Truth Told in All Tongues

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

All faiths contain a little truth. No faith knows all. If we learn from each other, we then piece all the parts of the truth together...

"
All faiths contain a little truth. No faith knows all. If we learn from each other, we then piece all the parts of the truth together. Each knows what they need to know, told to them through their belief system in a language that they will understand.
All faiths contain a little truth. No faith knows all. If we learn from each other, we then piece all the parts of the truth together. Each knows what they need to know, told to them through their belief system in a language that they will understand.

The truth is told in all tongues
To all folk in each and every land
Spoken in the way and outlook of the listener
So that each may understand.

None is told the full story
Though each thinks that they are
Prove their ignorance in fighting over their knowledge
As if they knew the weight of a distant star.

Life is a journey to be completed
Trials are the obstacles on the route
We must learn what each other believe
From each other piece together the jigsaw of the truth!

A nice little rhyming poem.

Truth in religion? Hmm. An interesting theme, certainly a thought-provoking topic and open to much debate.
The ideas of tolerance and respect for each other and the different religions is certainly topical in this crazy modern world. The idea of finding truths in religion, however is too far fetched for an Atheist like myself. There is just too much fantasy written in all the holy books of the world's religions for me to take it seriously.
Aside from that, this is well written and certainly a well intentioned write preaching respect and tolerance.

Every good lie has an element of truth... This is a tricky bit of filtering to glean the truths of every lie to create an amalgam of pure "truths".
Ah... But if we stay outside practices, dogma, and religion and live seeking "principles" of application to build character; then, maybe we see diamond clarity and think in pure gold Truth.

So, I thank you for this prickly write to wake the mind. Even here, there can be found some truth.

:-) Thats true - each poet writes from their viewpoint...
certainly can seem that way .. " ...jigsaw..." i think you are right about that certain universality of truth ... its there for those who look for it and doesn't change ... as humans we become afraid and want to cling to "The Truth" ... its not the truth that is mistaken ..it is us ;} ... but i think the differences between teachings are very important ... the prescriptions they offer will show what the "religion" is .. by the fruits (as the Bible says)
i think the failings of all religions is in a path that says one can actually work for Heaven ... only one is different ... the man-God Jesus Christ who says ... I did the work ..trust in me ... not one of their own actions or non-actions can make one worthy of being in God's presence ... love the honesty of your thoughts ... and what would one do with "all the knowledge"?? ... even if it can be contained. so many things to talk about in your brief lines ..well done ..hooked me and causes me to think a bit about things :)

Perfectly stated, honest and truthful words, telling us that within the answers of the problems we seek to address, may not hold your truth within it and we can and should all adapt our faiths to a higher and more understandable meaning.
Superbly written.

putting pieces of the truth together can be tricky...this poem is so valid in its philosophy...but i feel this can be attributed to religion...people want to profess that theirs is the one right and true way to God...my thoughts are that what works for each individual...that is the one right true...we speak in all colors, religion and tongue...but in the end...we are all human, together as one.
