The gig's over

The gig's over

A Poem by Tony Jordan
"

Memories can be dissonant to the heart

"
Only

twanging
memories
via
broken chords
and
missing strings
remain

the action
got
too high ~
drew only
blood

a ghostly refrain

repeats
again
and
again
and
again

Oh those twanging memories do tend to repeat again and again. I like the way you have written this poem- single words on a line have a great impact. Let's hope that the 'ghostly refrain' begins to fade (as the capchta says!) and the broken chords and missing strings can regenerate.

This is very simple but you've chosen a great metaphor to describe the damage caused by the tsunami waves spreading out from the cataclysm.
You are describing the human condition - we know its going to hurt but we can't help ourselves.
Cheers,
Alan

Quite so W.M.
Thank you very much for the review.
Sounds full of regret for a life wasted in youth in dreaming about musical success and in drinking/drug taking. Love the way it echoes out and leaves the impression of lasting sorrow.

Eerie words, Tony. Some of the "why's" of life are never answered, are they? We'd be better off forgetting the questions, but somehow can not manage to do that. Good one. Lydi**

Aloha Tony,

Sometimes in love, there seems to be a loop of unanswered why's...without answers... and yet, the why's continue... around and around in our minds...

I know as I have been there.

Lots of emotion in this one.

The unwelcome sound of tragedy's echoes.
Brings to mind country music; a most appropriate metaphorical springboard.
Excellent poem!

I think memories do that to you. It's like going back somewhere that held great thoughts in your head.
But then you find nothing you can relate to.
Thank god for drink.
