Winter's Morning

Winter's Morning

A Poem by Travie
"

This is a random poem I wrote that kind of reminds me of sitting in a coffee shop with a nice warm drink and the relaxing music that plays overhead on the intercom system.

"
Waking up one morning,
To find snow on the ice cold ground,
I hear kids playing in the distance,
The fact that I'll have no school comes to mind.
I arise from my bed,
Go to the kitchen and make cocoa,
And as I look out my frosted window,
I think to myself, "Finally, time to relax."
I walk to my living room,
Turn on music soft to the ears,
A fireplace with the brightest flame,
The feeling becomes nothing but peace.
I sit in the recliner,
Pick up a paper and pen,
And as I sit back to write,
I think to myself, "Days like this are what makes life so joyful."

I couldn't agree more. I love stormy weather for this reason. Only one critique, should "walking" be "waking"? Very enjoyable write.

I agree. Winter days are good for writing. I do my best writing with the cold or a rainy day. I like the internal thoughts and being content to relax and write. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You described your early morning mood beautifully in this free verse poem. I enjoyed the thirteen sequential functions (verbs) that you used to express this mood. This poem moves along like a locomotive energized by the buzz of morning.
