Amnesty

Amnesty

A Poem by Trekkie

amnesty;
your half-felt lies [of your broken promise {both the ones you’ve made
and the ones you’ve lost}]
your annoyed half-smile [your regretted almost-jump]
you fail to see;
the meaning of the word;
you know there will be no…
amnesty
for you
[who would be insane enough to offer it?]
your heart thumps; your thoughts bleed
your breath kills; your mind weaves
mercy
unsure what that may be
you
don’t know
where you’re coming from
where you’re supposed to be
(secrets and lies; lies and secrets)
afraid;
alone;
unprotected;
you know there will be no
amnesty
for you.

Great read. I can definitely feel the urgency and anger behind it.

"Your annoyed half-smile [your regretted almost-jump]" was probably my favorite line.

But as you said, the brackets were a little baffling. It kind of broke the flow of the whole thing. Maybe replace them with commas, or make them lines of their own.

Other than that, nice work.

I'm a convoluted trekkie who spends too much time procrastinating. I can see the Northern Lights from my house in the winter and I've memorized startlingly large portions of King Henry IV, part one. more..
