What could have been...

What could have been...

A Poem by Gregory Hill
"

I had an idea for a poem and when I read some of Poe's better work I decided to make it an imitation of his style. Hope you enjoy

"

Blackened gate, my soul grows weary,

Silent flickering, the torches eery,

Tapping tapping, the bane of men,

Snatching snatching, what could have been?

Glancing Glancing, through the gate,

Cowering Cowering, all men's fate,

Brilliant sun, to never rise,

Once truth so sweet, now only lies...

Return, return, the home I lost,

Never, never, this the cost,

Alone, forsaken, here...in hell,

The laughter...for eternity, I dwell...

Any help would be nice, this is partially an onomonopia. The last line of the poem was a lot longer and I cut it down, I hope it still conveys the right feeling. Thanks guys
