At Last,

At Last,

A Poem by eli mercuree rue

At last, I know peace
She came swiftly and showed
Me how to trust in my own feet
My mind, a resting ground for grief
Now mind full of relief
Minds' eye reflecting semipermeable beliefs
Showing I to I
Observing self evolve
As it knocks down the walls
Erected in response to trauma
Supported by melodramatic drama
Free at last from my crippling past
Turning abuse into means of empowerment
Forgiving but not forgetting those who trespassed against this body
Emanating love to correct internalized self hate
No longer able to judge
Only recognize the true essence of this space
At last, I know peace
