Darkling

Darkling

A Poem by Ubiquitous

You breathe the shadows,

My lovely.

You walk on a cloak of dark

And you smell of soot.

Ashes are too bright,

The sun would burn you up.

Let’s hide in the shadows my lovely,

I’ll shade your sensitivity.

Hide from the world under your trench coat,

I’ll protect you from the angels of the light.

Demons of the dark are your friend,

They make you feel welcome in the darkest of the night.

This was cool drink of dark. I think if you switched the angels and demons (i.e demons of light, and angels of dark) it would make an incredible difference. Now, back to sorting those ashes. . .

Damsel in distress...made fragile by the night. Nice work!

Very good :)

Ominous and short. The repetition of "dark" works well here.

I love it. :) The only suggestion I have is to change "demons" in "I'll protect you from the demons of the light" to "angels" or something, seeing as how the word "demons" is used in the following line as well.

What a pretty picture!

And I admire the imagery in here as well.
