What Kind of a World

What Kind of a World

A Poem by Anonymous
"

What kind of a world do we live in?

"
What kind of a world do we live in
When my brothers and sisters
Scoff at the sight of my neighbor?
My dear neighbor, born in difference,
Never to be seen in the same light.
Never to have rights as my siblings.

What kind of a world do we live in
When a child of the Lord
Is outcasted for who he loves?
Turned away from the people of God
Because he was treated as scum.
Because he was treated less than amazing.

What kind of a world do we live in
When the face of Justice and Truth
Is seen as a false prophecy?
My classmate, never to see the light
Because she was denied her love.
Because she desired her acceptance.

What kind of a world do we live in
When those luckier sneer at labor
And third-world children are starving?
Taking their blessings to themselves
Refusing their surplus and fortune.
Realizing too late that there’s darkness.

What kind of a world do we live in
When humans can’t ever decide
Between black and white or gray?
Segregation or a melting pot,
The people want war and peace.
They moralize love and hate.

What kind of a world do we live in
When the children of our Father
Are turned away as “subhuman”?
The superior man now leads us,
Twisting the teachings of God above.
Morphing his own godly complex.

What kind of a world do we live in
When nobody can love?

**Note: I am aware of the vast, beautiful blessings of the world. I am not a pessimist. I love the world and love to explore the gorgeous creation that is Earth, but there is no ignoring the furious hatred in this world. I see Christians taking verses and throwing them out without acknowledging the crucial verses around it. People are turned away from religion because of people such as that, who twist the Word and anger others. I wish that others could see the beauty of Christianity. It really is a wonderful thing if you see past the intolerant people who morph the Bible into something that it isn't.

Wow, I really, really liked the first lines. It's sick how this actually happens in real life, and not much can be done to change people's mind or get them to understand. The question basically says it all.

The title immediately made me think of "World So Cold" by 12 Stones because "What Kind Of World Do We Live In" is one of the main lines over and over again in the song. "What Kind Of World Do We live In, Where Love Is Divided By Hate."

That aside, beautiful poem.

Your question need to be answered. The USA spend 10 times on war then for education. 40 million people need food stamps. (Where are the new jobs promised.)
Your poem asked the question every person in this world need to ask their leaders. 1/10 the money spend on war could feed and shelter the world.
"What kind of a world do we live in
When nobody can love? "
It is time for peaceful demonstrations everywhere. The Nations economy based on war won't change till the people get tire and stand together. Thank you for a outstanding poem. I did enjoy.
