Dilated StareA Poem by Blackheart
Sunlight creeps through the window
Evoking a sensation of something warm I sit, as the rays engulf my surroundings The shadows disappear, so does the dark. I gaze my weary eyes outside the window Watching this bleak world turn golden So unreal to see It's the same place A place where daylight aches. Among the debris and the dust I see a tree Beneath sits a mortal. An insignificant being. A creation of god. Seeping everything this world has to offer. Endless delusion within Desolation and despair. A blank expression on his face It's all unreal to him A radiant life falters Into a petrified spirit Staring with dilated eyes. I shift my gaze As my surroundings change A familiar dimension As the shadows reappear Filling this astral space With darkness dense as matter. A blank page awaits in front of me Pale. With trembling limbs I reach for my pen. My source of light. I stare at the page. An endless, dilated stare. © 2015 BlackheartReviews
