Innocence

Innocence

A Poem by ;
"

Something I wrote after watching the news about a girl getting raped...Plain and Simple

"
My purity is mine
Not yours
You can take it from me physically
But emotionally it will always be there
You think you know
But you really don't
You can use brute force
you can leave all the bruises you want
But in the end it will always be there
No matter what

Quite a defiant poem, I felt. It might have been even more effective, if this piece was longer.

Regardless of the brutality which can be used against a woman during rape, this writer expresses her view that "purity" will always remain. Even though a woman may be attacked physically, her emotional virtue will not be violated.

Well written and with a clear message!

Wow, this is extremely powerful! It whispers to the soul of hope, faith and foundations. Haunting really.

Displays a will to survive, NO MATTER WHAT. How amazing. I love how, as writers, ppl can take other ppl's experiences and make them their own, at least long enough to put it into words. This is admirable of you. Loved reading it.

I like poetry that shows that inner strength and will to be no matter what. You say so much in so little words, I think I like that the best. Excellent write

The meaning of this piece is what makes it stronger. To me it didn't flow naturally, maybe a slight structural change would read easier on the eyes. The idea behind why you wrote, what you did, and the message behind what you wrote is what is important here. I think it could be expanded upon and be quite amazing.

I like it... To me it doesn't flow perfectly... but it's still a great peice... I like the thought in the poem... Purity can not be taken... Great job!

good. Lines five and six sound a little cliched, but overall it is a solid piece.

Purity is not something that can be taken away by force. Rape / abuse does not make the victim any less pure that they originally were. Such a view is archaic. That said, I do like the defiance in the piece. Good work.
