"Life's Castaways"

"Life's Castaways"

A Poem by Valentine

            "Life's Castaways"

She had learned

the cost of his pain

and rejection...

so long ago.

But it would return

and enter her world,

as cold as

winter's new falling snow.

Soon fresh hurt would come,

as she struggled to be...

a weak floundering ship upon...

a stormy wind tossed sea.

For pain and loss linger inside,

and rejection lies in the heart.

As the mind asks "why can't life's

castaways...have a new start?"

indeed why do life's castaway's never seem to get a break but maybe they have to learn and grow, when this does not happen first time maybe a second time comes around so they get another chance to take the lesson in, i suppose its a possibility, your poem throws up many possibilities thank you Kathie :)

"Life's Castaways"
Valentine,
A reminder of the preciousness of people, the vulnerability. so much of the sense of value is based on how we treat and are treated. In children, women, men. Of course children being at the beginning of their development need to be nourished, physically, emotionally, spiritually. This poem is a place to think about each of our place and opportunity to bring strength to others.
Blessings,
Kathy

You mention in your comments that your poem's castaway are children. When my wife and I lived in Pennsylvania we were foster parents. All together about 25 children spent time in our home. We eventually adopted three of them. The pain we saw was heart breaking. And the callousness of parents who created that pain was absolutely astounding. Some people cash cause pain in others but never seem to feel it in themselves. I hope there's a special place in hell for people like that.

We face it in our life. We should be clear in our standing. The rejection and acceptance are both part of our life. But we should be careful for rejection by maintaining balance, because it really hurts. Nice emotional writing.

Your words her Kathie bring images of a fantasy island for the lost, who leave all baggage on the jetty and live the way that they should be allowed to, with freedom from past regrets and ghosts of the past vanquished by the knowledge, that their new community won't be quite so quick to judge those who are only looking for the same as themselves. We can run away from others, but we can't run from our own minds. A thought provoking write, that lingers in the readers mind.

no one likes to get rejected and sometimes if you reject someone in the past then they will reject you in the future. sometimes they forget the past and want to start over

What happens to the children that people walk off and leave behind? Kathie
This is terrific, I could feel the emotions flowing. As you already know,
this is no easy walk through life, I think Sami said it best how we deal with our

I was thinking more of the little children , they are victims too. Kathie
They can if they search tirelessly for a lifeboat, beautiful as always, dear Kathie.
