Primordial Dog

Primordial Dog

A Poem by Valette

The fire dances

Bright orange tongues

Lap at the blackened sky

For thousands of years

The fires of mankind

Have danced through the night.

At my side

Hunter, protector, friend

She blinks

With drowsy eyes

Hypnotized

By the dancing flame.

The flickering warmth

Brings primordial memories

Of a time forgotten long ago.

Through the flames

She sees a man

As if through a veil

He wore leather

Wrapped and tied

And carried a spear

With a wolf at his side.

As if sensing his kin

The wolf looked back

Through time and space

His yellow eyes glinting

Like coins in the dark.

I'm glad to be the first to review. I'm a little bit confused by this poem, but at the same time I think you are talented, and this is a great write.
At the end it's told from the dogs perspective of the human man, is that correct?
