Silence

Silence

A Poem by Vanik

My speakers are knocking with no sound
But it’s the loudest noise I’ve ever heard
So loud it turns me deaf
Unable to hear the world

I’m stuck with this silence
I used to like it now it’s painful
It kept me safe
From the disease of this world

The failing minds grouped together
Creating a world I hated
A world so loud
Drowning everyone it meets

Then I found silence
In a box surrounded by walls
Filled with nothing
I kept them blank

Leaving me in darkness
I loved the silence
I saw everything
And realized it was nothing

We care about nothing
We fight for nothing
We talk about nothing
Our lives mean nothing

But we pretend
We pretend to know
We pretend to care
We pretend to love
We pretend to live

The disease of the world
The noise
So I left
To meet silence

But silence is not silent
It’s loud
Louder than the world
And there’s no escaping

Embrace madness
Speak to silence
Unlike your friends it listens
It cares

It answers
Even questions never asked
Don’t fight fire with fire
Fight it with water

Don’t fight noise with noise
Fight it with silence
But be aware
Silence is louder than the world
