She Rules Again

She Rules Again

A Poem by VanillaChords

And then she realized
It was all in her hands
She could either let her doubtful heart speak
And lose herself in endlessly searching for more
For satisfaction
For that one thing
Or she could be a queen
And build her own empire
On an ice-cold foundation
On a soulless rock

Her heart or a crown?
Rule or drown?

She had been lost for too long now
That was not her
She was a born emperor
A heart of stone
Fearless

Looking for that one thing
She lost her pride
Her will to fight

So she stepped away from the fire
Walked through the rain
And touched the ice

Her veins froze
Her tears too
Her love died

The girl was gone
The fear was gone
The queen was back

And on her throne
No one could touch
Her cold, cold heart

And thus
She ruled again
A heartless reign

Then all she feared
From deep within
The warming sun, the curse of Spring
