In Heaven or Hell?

In Heaven or Hell?

A Poem by VassD
"

That damned, elusive Pimpernel...

"

Europe’s brilliance, England’s fool

That one another found

Each other in the fortune’s spool

And in the heavens sound

Europe’s daughter, England’s son

That rumor tore apart

Fear and anger, love undone

Pride betrays the heart

Europe’s traitor, England’s David

Together fought the fight

Deny, accept, betrayal’s bid

But hold for virtue’s might

Europe’s lady, England’s lord

Forever loved, forevermore

I wrote this not long after I read The Scarlet Pimpernel. I really did love the love story between Margeurite and Percy... In case you didn't catch it, the title and description are a shout-out to the poem that is repeated a couple of times in the movie from the 1980s.
