The Modern World

The Modern World

A Poem by Vatsal Rohilla (account shifted)

Man has progressed quite a bit
with the passage of time.

Technology has taken us to a new level
and has reduced our dependency on ourselves-
why should one incommode his muscles and bones
when he has gadgets to serve like elves.

Social networks have- negatively- affected
our social lives.
Life has become like a vehicle
which our devil drives.

Minds may have conquered the world,
but hearts are degrading,
humans are getting cheaper
yet prices are inflating.

The depth of our knowledge is great
but the depth of our emotions is less.
Will somebody make it clear
what is the use of this progress?

The trick is perspective and what you look for, you will see. Number one do not let the media construct your perspective. They know what sells and that is fear, judgement and lust. My view is different of this world ... I see nothing but progress ... contrast is part of that progress. If we do not note what we do not like or would like to see diminished, we cannot move from it. Allow your mind to move from the contrast, once it has been noted. You are indeed a gifted pen, Vatsal:)

certainly, one of my fav. poetry it is. some of .. a few lines that i adore reading are:

Minds may have conquered the world,
but hearts are degrading,
humans are getting cheaper
yet prices are inflating.

so much depth be hidden behind your non-fic. words. absolutely, the ink of reality you drip down in such very captivating & mesmerizing words. rhythmic pattern's too very alluring & worth-reading or understanding. not sure, if i'm right, but the truth is, yeah, tech. has this world sunk into the abyss of darkness, but not exactly 'cause, it's the blessing as well as an omen to the world. how wonderfully written!

looking forward to reading your work!

Thank you for your input and words of praise.
i agree with this poem...more knowledge, maybe...instant gratification, maybe...

but the emotions are definitely less...face to face contact is diminishing...and that is sad.

really strong write, Vatsal..
