DEPTH

DEPTH

A Poem by VicFelter

DEPTH

SEVERE AND SUNKEN, BOCK BEER AND BROKEN

TO THE DEPTHS OF ADDICTION, CONSTANTLY CHECKING,

WITH UNFLAGGING RESOLVE,

DRAWN TO THE SHADOW, THAT LINGERS WITH THE LIGHT,

THAT DEEP AND DARK SECRET, THE CONSTANT EXISTENCE,

ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT,

THE SLOW HEALING CURE, THE DOMINATING FEAR

THAT UNAPPEALING URGE, NAGGING LIKE A DARE,

BUT ATTRACTED TO A PRAYER,

THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG, DOGGED WITH THE MASS BELOW,

CLINGING TO THE DRIFTWOOD, SUBSISTENCE TO BESTOW,

BUT ALTHOUGH YOU ARE ALL ALONE - YOU WILL NOT BE THROWN

I really like this, the second stanza especially. I'm pretty terrible at discussing poetry in proper terms, or commenting on meanings, but this flows really well and the sounds fit beautifully. An interesting subject
